Thriller questions

1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? Create suspense by not showing what is happening and fast pasted editing.
2. How does your media product represent particular social groups? There is limited social group representation.
3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? A torrent sight as because it is an amateur piece of footage so no one will pay for it.
4. Who would be the audience for your media product? The audience would be for people who like computers and watching thrillers.
5. How did you attract/address your audience? We attract our audience by the name as all it gives away is that it will have something to do with computers.
6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing the product? Learnt about final cut and how to use it as well as how to control the video camera.
7. Looking back to your preliminary task, what do you feel that you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product? I feel I have learnt the importance of camera angles and type like match on action. As well as this I have learnt more about editing and the importance of it.

Title Analysis - Student Thriller 36

In our opening sequence we've used a title made in after effects, it uses movement, colour and dynamicy much like one of the student thrillers we've seen called 36, as above.
Although our title doesn't move as much vertically, the colour we're using and the movement in general is very similar.

More editing ideas

The flash effect we were to use to cut between the antagonist entering and leaving the house has had a slight change, we are going to still use the flash, but use it in conjunction with a speed up effect, a blur that lets the audience see where the character is going but not what he is doing from a static position and to still conceal the idea of the hacker.

Animatic Video

This is our animatic video for our Thriller called Error Code.
The idea is to use parallel editing to switch between two different times in the opening sequence, there will be a fade between the hacker obtaining the information of his next victim on a computer and him approaching the location.

The last part in the sequence, before the title, will be used to give the audience an enigma, a mystery of which the narrative will revolve around.
A flash will be used to cut between when the character enters and leaves the house, to leave what happens in there unknown.

The title of the thriller will then appear, in the same way the two times faded in between each other during the sequence in the same font as was used on the computer, to anchor a motif to the thriller.

Further ideas - Opening Sequence

No non-diagetic soundtrack, the idea is that the audience see the film as made-up, or fictional when they hear the non-diagetic sound, reminding them that it is just a film, if we were to not include the soundtrack we could create suspense and grip the audience in the thriller a lot easier.
Although, in order to achieve the ability to use other softwares for our evaluation we will use garageband to try to make diagetic sounds, such as the general environment sounds like wind, doors banging perhaps or any other necessary sound for the sequence.

Also, to follow the conventions of Thrillers we could use a flash fast forward or some such kind of edit to leave what happens in the house as an enigma, and potentially as the crime or mystery the narrative is to revolve around.

Homework 2

I would like to add a filter so it had a less amatuer look prehaps black and white. Also a POV chase seen avoiding the blurred unprofessional look when the camera goes from left to right.
