Sound

We will be using no non-diagetic sound track as if the viewer is using less senses then they are focusing in more on the visuals and makes it seem more realistic to the viewer. The diagetic sound we have in our intro is- ??? edit post

Mise-en-scene

The mise-en-scene is very typical of a normal home, the idea is to appeal to a mass audience in the opening sequence to keep the viewers attention, given something as simple as a computer can be used to do such sinister things given that close to every modern home has a computer.

A lot of our footage was shot in the dark, other parts weren't, but we will use Final Cut Express to decrease the lighting on other shots to make it look dark, to help maintain the dark and sinister mood the opening sequence is supposed to create.

The antagonist is wearing a hooded top, used for two reasons, one, to conceal his identity and pose an enigma to the audience to keep their attention and also to appeal to a younger audience, although the opening sequence is trying to appeal to a mass audience, the antagonist's use of the hooded top is typical of the younger generation and also states that given most people own and wear hooded tops the antagonist could be anyone.

Filter

We will be using a green filter on the video to give it a more professional look like the Matrix series of films.

Title Analysis - Student Thriller 36

In our opening sequence we've used a title made in after effects, it uses movement, colour and dynamicy much like one of the student thrillers we've seen called 36, as above.
Although our title doesn't move as much vertically, the colour we're using and the movement in general is very similar.

Light rays

This effect we've found in Final Cut, called Light Rays are very close to what we can use in the last shot of the hacker inside the house, to conceal his identity and make him less visible in the environment and keep the audience thinking about what is happening, as it is apparent they wont be able to see themselves.

More editing ideas

The flash effect we were to use to cut between the antagonist entering and leaving the house has had a slight change, we are going to still use the flash, but use it in conjunction with a speed up effect, a blur that lets the audience see where the character is going but not what he is doing from a static position and to still conceal the idea of the hacker.

Animatic Video

This is our animatic video for our Thriller called Error Code.
The idea is to use parallel editing to switch between two different times in the opening sequence, there will be a fade between the hacker obtaining the information of his next victim on a computer and him approaching the location.

The last part in the sequence, before the title, will be used to give the audience an enigma, a mystery of which the narrative will revolve around.
A flash will be used to cut between when the character enters and leaves the house, to leave what happens in there unknown.

The title of the thriller will then appear, in the same way the two times faded in between each other during the sequence in the same font as was used on the computer, to anchor a motif to the thriller.

Feedback

Issues: recording command prompt from a screen needs to be done by a computer to get the quality.
Getting the sound of wind as its not on garage band.
